This beautiful love story started with a few bottles of vino, a good friend with friends, some karaoke, a new car and breakfast!
There is so much more to this love story of Lisa and Dan for your reading and viewing pleasure...you are welcome xx
The first meeting...
It was June 2011 and Lisa was staying at her parents beach house in sunny Whangamata. Lisa was enjoying a girls winter weekend getaway with her sister and her friend. They had been out for dinner and were heading for a karaoke bar after a number of bottles of vino! Lisa elected to ring her good friend, Ella, who was living at Tauranga and asked her to come and meet them. Accompanying Ella were a number of friends and one of those just happened to be named Daniel.
Daniel had just bought a new car and wanted to show it off. So impressed was our Lisa that her and Daniel ended up going out for breakfast the following day.
They commenced a long distance relationship for the first 3 years with Dan living in Tauranga which enabled him to finish his electrical apprenticeship and Lisa living in Morrinsville - where her teaching job was.
Two and a half years ago, they jumped the ditch and moved over to Perth where they built their first home together.
It was July 2nd 2014 - Lisa and Dan's three year anniversary. Dan told Lisa that he was driving over from Tauranga after work to take her out to dinner. It was a Wednesday night so Lisa assumed they would be going somewhere close such as Hamilton. When Dan arrived, he wouldn't tell Lisa where they were going. It didn't take long for Lisa to realise that he was driving to Auckland. Lisa recalls growling Dan because they both had work in the morning and Auckland was way too far to drive just for dinner. Our lovebirds didn't arrive in Auckland until 8.45ish. Dan had booked a table for 9pm at Orbit which is the revolving restaurant in the Sky Tower. After dinner, Dan handed Lisa a Pandora bag. He had bought her a charm for her bracelet. The charm had a small dangling diamond ring! Dan said "just a little teaser for you". Lisa was thinking "great, now I'm going to have to wait another 3 years for an actual ring". Lisa took her Pandora bracelet off and started readjusting the charms . She turned around and Dan was on bended knee with a real diamond ring - "Marry Me" he demands!
Lisa and Dan ended up going to the Casino to play some Roulette to celebrate - arriving back at home at about 4am!
Lisa and Dan were married in Gisborne. Dan's sister and husband, Mahala and George Reynolds, brought a vineyard down on Newstead Lane. When they went to the auction for the vineyard, Lisa and Dan told them that they would get married there if they brought it!
Mahala rang to tell them they had a wedding venue a few days later!
The ceremony was held at St Marys Catholic Church. The celebrant was Fr. Stuart Young, who is a great friend of the family. His daughter, Elizabeth, has been a close friend of Lisa's since they were 5 years old and this made her one of Lisa's bridesmaids.
Lisa bought her dress from Vanilla Bridal in Tauranga. It was Essense of Australia dress - a strapless sweetheart A line ball gown, with a beaded bodice and free-flowng skirt with Almond and Ivory tulle over light gold satin. V-shaped low back with zip and crystal buttons. Lisa added removable Tulle straps which sheremoved for the reception. Lisa also wore a simple 2 tier almond tulle mid length veil.
Behind the lens...
Lisa and Dan's photographer was Phil Yeo from Phil Yeo Photography. Phil did a fabulous job of capturing their day. The whole process, from start to finish, was very smooth! They met Phil a couple of times before the wedding day. He took Dan and Lisa around to a few locations at Wainui beach. He did a great job of finding spots considering Dan and Lisa didn't really know what they wanted. The last location Phil took them to was on top of a hill with gorgeous views of the surrounding hills on one side and looking back across Wainui beach on the other... it was truly stunning!
Everyone had a great time taking photos with Phil on the wedding day. He made guests feel very relaxed and they had a lot of great laughs!
Lisa and Dan are totally in love with their images from the their day - "they have blown our expectations and we have had lots of wonderful compliments from family and friends".
Lisa and Dan found it challenging to plan a wedding in New Zealand while living over in Australia. They couldn't have achieved half as much as they did without the help from Lisa's older sister, Tracy. She had the complete vision for the wedding and was the creative genius behind the whole day - spending countless hours organising, sourcing and creating.
From us here at LookLoveWed we simply want to say a huge thanks to beautiful Lisa and Dan for sharing their gorgeous wedding day with us and to wish them a lifetime of laughter and joy xx
We also wish to acknowledge the stunning photography from Phil Yeo Photography, once again, and would encourage as many of you as possible to consider Phil in capturing the magic of your day.
