This gorgeous couple were married on the bride's parents farm, in a magical day full of vintage touches and stunning details. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Gemma and John

How they met...

John and Gemma had been friends for 8 years before they finally got together. They met during their flatting days and were in the same group of friends who would get together most weekends.

The proposal...

John and Gemma were on a trip around Europe and had a stopover in Dubrovnik, Croatia where they took a canoe tour. They had stopped at a private beach for lunch when John convinced Gemma to put on her snorkel and swim out to a rock in the middle of the water. Once there, he got down on one knee (rather uncomfortably) and proposed.

Their wedding inspiration...

Gemma and John had a vintage/country themed wedding, with a pastel and gold colour scheme. They used gypsophila and coloured hydrangeas both outside and on all of the tables. Gemma had collected a ton of jars throughout the year to hold the flowers on the big day. Gemma and her mother also spent the year collecting doilies from op shops and sewing them into long strips of bunting to hang inside the marquee. They took plenty of time and effort to make but they loved how they looked on the day and had a lot of lovely comments about them.  Plenty of old items were used as props such as suitcases, wrought iron bed ends (painted gold) and even a washing machine. For their favours, they placed Little Golden Books on the tables and said it was a lot of fun trying to match the title of the books to the individual guests! Their wedding cake sat on an old white dresser with doilies and a pair of vintage bride and groom money boxes found by the Bride’s Mum.

Highlights of the day...

Gemma and John’s wedding dance was to Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show which they had rehearsed to include the bridal party coming in halfway through. Everyone was standing around the dance floor clapping and cheering which was just fantastic. They also had a fun filled photo booth provided by their photographers which was great and which the guests loved it!

Finding the dress...

Gemma knew that she wanted something lace and slightly vintage and after researching online came across Grace Loves Lace. She decided on their Charlotte dress which she absolutely loved and we totally agree.

The photos...

Gemma and John researched photographers right from the start as they knew it was one of the most important parts of their day. They wanted a certain style and loved the look of We Do Photography & Design's photos. They definitely weren't disappointed and said Jason and Aneta were fantastic to work with. They love their pics and so do we!

Thanks so much Gemma and John for sharing your super creative day with us. A stunning wedding which we just loved. All the best with your future together as husband and wife.  xx
